Community Clinic

Welcome to accessibility.

Community Acupuncture is an offering to anyone in need of change, whether physically, mentally, or emotionally. Providing acupuncture in a group setting helps lower the cost of treatments, making it more accessible to everyone.

This method of treatment allows for more frequent visits to address your needs. Sit back and relax in comfy reclining chairs and let acupuncture calm your nervous system, allowing yourself to receive what you need.

My goal as your acupuncturist is to make you feel safe, heard, relaxed, and healthy. Community Acupuncture is an alternative approach to your healthcare, giving you the chance to receive individualized treatments with a group of people that share your intended outcome - to feel better.

Come with friends and family or come alone! You do not have to be an existing one-on-one client to enjoy the benefits of acupuncture. Your cost is determined on what you can afford to pay, between $35 and $55. Your appointment will be scheduled for 40 minutes, with 30 minutes devoted to your treatment time. Your treatment is individualized for what you need and why you need it.

FAQ

How is Community Acupuncture different?

Community Acupuncture is performed in an open room with up to 6 people at one time, each in their own reclining chair, instead of having a private room with just one table. This allows for multiple people to receive up to a 30 minute treatment at a low cost. You will be provided with a treatment menu that explains some common ailments acupuncture can address, although there is always the option to completely customize your treatment.

Since it takes place in a group setting, there will be no cupping, gua sha, or moxibustion. Eye pillows will be provided on request and each chair has its own TDP heating lamp. Soft, relaxing music will play in the background while you lean back and enjoy your time.

Who is it for?

Any one can experience acupuncture since it is a modality that can help balance the mind and body, whether your problem is chronic or acute. You do not have to be an existing client to come for a session; you will complete paperwork upon arrival. This can be a great introduction to acupuncture to someone who is just wanting to try it out or for friends and family wanting to be treated together.

How much does it cost?

A sliding scale model is used in order to keep acupuncture affordable and accessible to the community. While the payment option is set between a certain dollar range ($35 - $55), it is not meant to be used as a discount for those who can afford it, rather, to provide a healing opportunity for those without the means.

Below is an example of recommended fees based on household income. These are only estimates and your payment is ultimately up to you, always without any question or judgement.

What does a typical treatment look (and feel) like with Community Acupuncture?

Upon entering, you will be greeted and checked in (or provided with quick paperwork if it’s your first time) and guided to your chair to relax and look over the treatment menu to help you decide what you need. You will have a quick consultation and be asked a few questions regarding your requests - this helps to individualize your treatment to give you the best outcome! Your acupuncture point selection is based on your main complaint, your current condition, and observation based on Traditional Chinese Medicine teachings.

Once you are comfortable in your chair, thin, sterile, single-use needles are inserted into specific acupuncture points; since you are seated in a reclining chair, only points on the front of the body (head, ears, arms, hands, legs, and feet) are used. Even if you have pain in your back, there are acupuncture points on the front of the body to help! Upon confirmation of comfort, you will be offered an eye pillow and heat lamp to accommodate your level of relaxation. A silent 30-minute timer is used to track your session while other people receive their treatment.

Acupuncture should not be painful; some areas, such as the hands and feet, may be a little more tender, but once the needle is inserted, there should not be residual pain at the insertion site. Communication is always recommended to make sure you are comfortable. Once your time is up, the needles will be pulled and put into a Sharps container (they are not used again) and you will be on your way!
